Darien Lake Campground – Nature Rules


Darien Lake campground is a picturesque destination for those who love the outdoors. Bordered by wildflowers, the campground offers a unique and beautiful setting that’s great for camping, hiking, and taking in all that nature has to offer.

Darien Lake campsites are a part of the Darien Lake State park which features ravines, woodlands, and the famous 12-acre Harlow Lake. The park offers all the amenities, including electricity. Park visitors also get to take advantage of the heated showers and comfort stations that are built around the campsites.

Visitors can now avail the facilities at the newly constructed beach bathhouse and swim at the beach whenever lifeguards are present. Out of 152 campsites at Darien Lake, 142 have access to electricity. The Darien Lake campsite’s major attractions are the Darien Lake Amusement Park, where visitors can go horseback riding.

During winter, multiple-use trails are open to the public for hiking. Visitors can also take part in snowmobiling and skiing. Facilities such as horseback riding, hiking, fishing, and picnic areas are open to the public all year round.  

Camp Sites

It is a very tidy park with plenty of space for camping and walking paths. The park is open for free after six, which is convenient in the summer when light lasts till later. In the center, there is a lake where you can go fishing. There are also plenty of places where you can swim, albeit it is a little bit unclean. The campsite is reasonably priced, but like all state parks, a minimum stay of 2 nights is required.

Campsites are rather compact in the campground. There are several water faucets, and the restrooms are as spotless as is reasonable. Every campsite has a built-in barbeque, but you may also bring your own. But you can manage.

But if you’re clever, you can manage without one. If you are not using a camper, there is no need for a camper converter because electrified sites are equipped with regular home outlets. Additionally, there is a portable picnic seat at each spot that you may move about.

When planning your site, bear in mind that although there are relatively strictly enforced quiet hours (10 PM-7 AM), you’ll typically see headlights at all hours of the night. This state park is excellent. The campsite is lovely. The park is equipped with contemporary restrooms and showers. The layout of the campsite is sensible and large. There is a lovely lake with a beach for swimming and a fantastic picnic place.

Darien Lake campgrounds feature showers, drinking water, electric hookups, picnic tables, water, and sewer hookups, and the camping grounds are big, rig-friendly pull-through sites with ADA access.

Park Rules

Harlow Lake is a wonderful family-friendly fishing spot. The pond, which was recently restored, provides a home for large-mouth bass, yellow perch, and other aquatic and bird species.

For history buffs, the Devonian period, popularly known as the “Age of Fish,” lasted from 417 million to 354 million years ago. Eleven Mile Creek, which flows through the park, carved a gorge out of the shale and exposed remarkable fossils from that time.

Throughout the park, there are several historic apple orchards that provide food for a variety of animal species in the fall.

Within the campsite, hunting is not permitted. In-season small game and deer hunting are allowed with a parking permit. The park is open daily from sunrise to sunset.

Pets

In day-use areas and campgrounds, a maximum of two pets are permitted unless otherwise indicated by a sign or instruction. Pets are to be kept under constant supervision or on a leash. Upon staff request, documentation of rabies vaccination must be provided. It should also be noted that pets are not allowed in the boardwalks, golf courses, playgrounds, or pools that are not guarded.

The amusement park is not Darien Lakes State Park. Less than 15 minutes separate the state park and camping from the theme park. If you enjoy camping and amusement parks and need lodging, staying here will help you save significant money.

This is not an amusement park; it’s the best-hidden secret! From Memorial Day to Labor Day, there is a lake there for swimming, canoeing, and kayaking. During such months, a $7 charge is imposed. Mostly because a state park. If you have an Empire pass, you can enter if you plan to visit often. However, it’s a nice spot to cool off. Frisbee golf, a small camping area, and a music pavilion are all available.

Directions

Driving from Buffalo, NY, head south toward Perkins, then exit the traffic circle onto Delaware Ave. Turn right onto Church St. Slight left to merge onto I-190 S toward I-90/NY-5 W/Skyway. Take exit 1-52 on the left to merge onto I-90 E toward Buffalo Arpt/Albany. Take exit 52A for William St. toward Buffalo/Cheektowaga. Turn right onto William St. Turn left onto Union Rd. Pass by Subway (on the right in 0.2 mi). Turn right onto Bennett Rd, then right onto Como Park Blvd, then left onto Lake Ave., then turn right onto US-20 E/Broadway,  turn left onto Harlow Rd, and then turn right onto Hank Rd. The destination will be on the right.

Fees

For entry into the majority of New York State Parks, a vehicle usage fee is required. Season and location affect fees.

The easy-to-use Empire Pass card costs $80 and is your ticket to year-round fun with unrestricted day-use access to most State Parks and Department of Environmental Conservation sites, including woods, beaches, trails, and more.

Camping; $18 – $30/night; Camping cost for out-of-state residents, per night: $5 for vehicles entering the lot $7; Commercial buses for $35 $25/day Wood Permit, $75 (when available).

You pay for the comfort of being close to the theme park; you are free to come and go all day. The nightly fee mentioned includes four park admissions. Here, 75% of the apartments are for rent, making it a fantastic camping site for the whole family. Large, spacious locations that are simple to enter and exit. The camp store contains everything you could possibly need for a fantastic camping trip. There are welcoming employees around who can provide information and assistance.
